First Lady and CEO of Ebema Gbi, Fatima Bio, has said she moves with delegates and not mere supporters, in what is seen as a direct message to her rivals within the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP). According to Voice of Salone Newspaper, the First Lady made this statement while speaking at the SLPP North America Women’s Council Conference, adding that her political engagements are distinguished by the presence of party delegates, unlike her competitors, who she claimed are surrounded by ordinary supporters. “I am walking with delegates, not supporters,” she told the gathering. The First Lady also said the love and loyalty Sierra Leoneans have for her husband, President Julius Maada Bio, will naturally extend to her. “As long as people love my husband, that fragment of love will follow me,” she stated. She further expressed strong confidence that the ruling SLPP will retain power in the 2028 general elections, vowing that the party will defeat the opposition All People’s Congress (APC). Madam Bio’s remarks come at a time of intensified political activities and early positioning within the SLPP, as several high-profile figures are believed to be eyeing key roles ahead of the 2028 polls.
